I am submitting this comment in opposition to the proposed sewer rate increases at this time.

While I understand the need for infrastructure funding, it is deeply concerning that rate increases are being considered while many residents in affected areas are still dealing with unresolved impacts from the recent sewage spill and ongoing water quality concerns.

Residents have not yet received clear answers regarding long term safety, system effectiveness or accountability for the failures that led to this situation. In particular, there are outstanding concerns about water contamination, system limitations, and whether current mitigation efforts are adequate.

It is unreasonable to ask residents to absorb increased financial burden while critical public health and infrastructure issues remain unresolved.

Before any rate increases are approved, the following should be addressed:
Full transparency regarding system performance and limitations
Verified, consistent water quality testing results
Clear accountability for the cause of the spill and system failures
A defined plan for long-term infrastructure improvements

Ratepayers should not be asked to fund solutions without first receiving clarity, safety assurances, and accountability.

I respectfully request that any decision on rate increases be postponed until these issues are fully addressed and the affected community has been adequately informed and protected.
