It's good that our Board of Supervisor, Brad Rasmussen, publicly within the Save our Name Facebook group supports keeping the Kelseyville name. He has been a member of the Facebook group since Feb 2024.

"I personally don’t think the federal government ought to be involved in changing the name of populated places anywhere in the United States"—was made during the Lake County Board of Supervisors meeting on February 4, 2025. - Brad Rasmussen.

The pro save the Kelseyville name correspondence to Board on Geographic Names (BGN)* and the Measure U save the name vote clearly demonstrate the community’s desire to keep the name Kelseyville. 90.5% and 70.5% respectively communicated or voted to keep the Kelseyville name.

BGN’s policy is to respect the community’s wishes.

*“BGN values local opinion as an important factor in deliberations.”
    - Michael Tischler, BGN Chair and Shellie Zahniser, Exec Secretary Domestic Names correspondence, September 24, 2024

*“The BGN recognizes that county boards are elected to represent their citizens and trusts they will issue a recommendation that represents the opinions of those citizens.”
