Within 2 weeks of the first layer of chip seal, there are already numerous areas of exposed substrate and shoulder erosion. Please pass this amendment to fix our roads the right way.
    Thank you.

I was overjoyed last year to find out that many of the roads in Cobb would finally be repaved. After 10 years of fire aftermath, the roads were so damaged and eroded that they were more potholes than road, and the pavement was no more than a few feet wide in certain spots. We have lived like this for years. It has been hard on our vehicles, affects property values, and is inconvenient and embarrassing when hosting out-of-town visitors.
A couple of weeks ago, I was thrilled to see the beautiful new asphalt in a neighborhood just a few hundred yards from ours, and even more excited to see our neighborhood was next. You can imagine my disappointment when I found out our neighborhood will be receiving Chip Seal: a cheaper process that will not hold up nearly as long as asphalt. We were not informed about this decision in time to ask questions but rather found out through word of mouth once the work had already begun.
I suspect the decision was not a malicious one and probably budget-related but it is frustrating to know that in a few short years some of Cobb will have attractive, functional roads, while other parts of Cobb will have crumby, eroded roads that will no-doubt lower property value and potentially compromise safely.
Many of us stayed after the fire partially due to being promised renewed and improved infrastructure. I would like to see the county keep its promise, and renew trust with the Cobb community.
    Thank you for your consideration,
