Pillsbury Family Farms Inc. is a legacy, minority-owned cannabis farm in Lake County that brings much-needed diversity and innovation to the industry. Our founder, John Evans, has been dedicated to this industry long before legalization, meeting the county’s own criteria for a legacy grower. In 2019, he spent the night on the courthouse steps to secure a cannabis license, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to compliance and responsible cultivation.

Achieving and maintaining a licensed cannabis farm in California is no easy feat, yet we have met every requirement imposed by the Community Development Department (CDD). When the county has requested changes, we have complied. We have operated transparently and in good faith, ensuring that our business aligns with state and local regulations.

Our farm contributes unique and sought-after terpene profiles to the market, providing consumers with rare and high-quality genetics that set us apart. While many dispensaries are saturated with common strains like Gelato and Ice Cream Cake, we bring forward cultivars such as Watermelon Rancher and Thai Fruit Landrace crosses, preserving cannabis biodiversity and offering consumers an alternative to mass-market selections.

Revoking our license would not only be unjust but would also harm the county’s reputation as a fair and equitable regulator. Minority-owned, legacy farms like ours deserve protection and support, not unnecessary obstacles that undermine our contributions to the industry. We urge the county to recognize our compliance, commitment, and positive impact on the local economy.

We respectfully request that the county reconsider this recommendation and allow us to continue operating as a legally licensed cannabis farm.
