You were not elected to represent the past, you are an employee of the people of today. You went as far as placing a measure for vote and you already have your answer to the will of the people. This no longer should be up for discussion, the people have spoken. I hope this is just a formality and the members of the board will represent the majority of their constituents. Anything less than that would divide this community further and hinder any future improvements to our already apparent great town. If you vote to change the name even though a majority has told you no, the people will hold you accountable not only at election time, but a written response to why you went against the will of the people will be requested. Remember, you live among this majority and all we are asking is for you to honor the majority voice. Do not divide this community further, it truly is “Time for Healing” and the outcast can move on and out of our great town of Kelseyville. Time for a new Senior Center director, she is like the plaque that needs to be eradicated.

The Board of Supervisor's is elected to represent the citizens of Lake County. The people have spoken and by a 70% margin made it clear that they do not want the name of Kelseyville to be changed.

Also, just in case you're not aware, here is a breakdown of how some of the Kelseyville area precincts voted:

The Kelseyville, Cole Creek, Kelsey Creek Precinct:

    Yes 17.1%
    No 82.8%

    Big Valley Precinct

    Yes 17.8%
    No 82.2%

    Gaddy Precinct

    Yes 19%
    No 81%

The no votes were at an even higher percentage in the Kelseyville area than countywide voting.

Therefore, I believe it would be a dereliction of duty for you to vote for anything but option 1. The name of Kelseyville should be preserved.

Moke Simon and Mike Green are lame ducks and should recuse themselves.

Lake County overwhelmingly voted in the November election to keep the name of Kelseyville and, even though it was an advisory vote only, they made their voices heard. Our Board of Supervisors should listen to the majority of their constituents and recommend keeping the name of Kelseyville to the BGN accordingly. Isn't that one of the jobs of the BOS? To listen to their constituents? Each of the BOS was voted into office by a majority of their constituents. Please listen to that majority now.

    To the Board of Supervisors:

As elected representatives, you hold a sacred trust to uphold the will of the people who placed you in office through a democratic process. This responsibility is not one that can be swayed by confusion, personal guilt, or the weight of events that none of us lived through. The very foundation of our democracy lies in the respect for the votes cast by the people, and today, that responsibility requires you to honor the clear and unequivocal voice of your constituents.

The issue before you is not one of historical revisionism, personal sentiment, or political posturing—it is a matter of duty and accountability. You were elected to represent the interests and values of the voters in this community, and the overwhelming sentiment of your constituents is clear: reject the name change.

This is the only option that respects the democratic process and the collective will of those you serve. To do otherwise would undermine the integrity of the very system that gave you the privilege of office.

We trust that you will act in good faith and fulfill the duty that has been entrusted to you by voting to reject the name change.

I have lived in Kelseyville all my life. This “Change the Name” controversy has caused so much stress and upheaval for our beautiful town. The people of Lake County have voted and 70% voted to keep our name. That should tell you the honest choice is to keep our Kelseyville name!!!
    Thank you,
    Kathleen Prather

As much as the BOS does not respect public opinion, I take my valuable time to express it nonetheless. The BOS expended valuable tax dollars and public employee time and energy to conduct an election to determine public opinion. The public, your constituents and de facto employers, have spoken. To fail to uphold public voter opinion is disrespectful and contrary to your duties in office.

We the people have spoken and you as REPRESENTATIVES, not lords, kings or overlords only have one choice. You nave have a different opinion, you may not like the out come of the vote but we the people have spoken and now you must submit to the will of the people and only go with option 1. This is not open any longer for debate, the time for debate is over! You were elected to be just that representatives, you do not know better than the people (yes this comment is directed to you Mr. Green), now is the time for you to represent, send option 1 to the BNG. Or if you want to save face then punt this to the incoming board.

Measure U was placed on the Ballot to allow We, the People to speak, and we spoke loud and clear. It isn’t really a surprise that this Board of Supervisors are still trying to squirm around the issue instead of bowing out of this proposed name change. Nearly 75% of the ENTIRE County’s registered voters who LAWFULLY voted, voted NO on Measure U. We, THE PEOPLE, do not find the name of Kelseyville to be offensive. As it stands, 2 of the entire BOS should NOT be a part of this discussion as they are Natives. Moke Simon openly declared that anyone who did not feel the name Kelseyville was inappropriate/offensive were racist! His insinuation was, in itself, was racist. He should have no input. EJ, also native, should have no input. Supervisor Pyska is, supposedly, a representative to ALL within her District, not just for the voices of a special interest group. She, too, shall remain neutral and without input. Michael Green, who was NOT voted in as a Supervisor, and Bruno, are the two remaining Supervisors. To me, this whole issue should have NEVER gotten to this level, and it is a travesty that the will of WE, THE PEOPLE, is being ignored. We have spoken. I, personally, have written to the BGN on several occasions with the latest email was to immediately inform them that WE, THE PEOPLE had made our wishes heard loud and clear. As the Board of Supervisors, you all were ballsy and cocky enough to think that We, THE PEOPLE of the entire county, would succumb to the small, special interest group (Citizens For Healing) which would give you leverage to recommend a name change. Now, with 75% of the County shooting down the whole “the name is offensive” narrative that you all were so confident would “prove” what the Citizens For Healing group was screaming only to shoot it down. Time to shut this down once and for all. Drop it all together. The BGN needs to be informed that the name change proposal is being put to rest, forever.
