5.1 24-921Adopt Proclamation Commending the Lake County Water Resources Team for Exemplary Work Orchestrating the 2024 Clear Lake Integrated Science Symposium (CLISS)
Congratulations to all who contributed to the resounding success of the 2024 Clear Lake Integrated Science Symposium (CLISS)! Special thanks go to Lake County Water Resources Department and to Angela DePalma-Dow, Dr. Jeanine Pfeiffer, Abby Leutholdt of Abby Leu Presents, and Sam Euston of Euston Productions, for their dedication and professionalism.
The 2024 CLISS is a credit to Lake County for many reasons: the symposium was well-organized; the topics were timely and fascinating; symposium design leveraged technology so symposium content can be viewed after the event by local residents and the scientific community beyond the county; the Clear Lake documentary," XaBatin: Big Lake, Big Science,” can a be a classroom resource as Angela DePalma-Dow noted on Sunday’s “What’s Next”, KPFZ local radio show; and generated strong interest to present at CLISS within the scientific community.
2024 CLISS inspires the citizen scientist in all of us. The poster and networking event was a unique opportunity for the public to talk to scientists about their research. Perhaps one of the most valuable outcomes of CLISS is igniting a love of science among our youth. Angela DePalma-Dow deserves much credit for bringing “cool” to science. Her energy and enthusiasm for science is contagious.
Twenty-five years is too long to wait for the next CLISS. I look forward to the next CLISS and hope to help the next CLISS at least match the caliber of this CLISS. And this is a high bar.
Outstanding conference filled with so much valuable scientific facts highlighting all the science research projects happening. The film was great and we are so very proud of Water Resources, Angela de-Palma-Dow, Dr. Jeanine Pfeiffer, Sam Euston and their team! Let's plan another as a follow-up in a couple of years, please. Best event in Lake COunty this year for sure!!!
