I am a Lake County mental health therapist who works primarily with some of our most challenged youth. We have a crisis in this county due to a lack of services available to this age group. Typically, when a young person has a crisis, they go to the ER where they wait days or weeks for a bed in an out of county facility. This bed may not become available at which time they will be released back to the environment that they were struggling in without proper support. Usually the home environment is in need of support as well and also needs these services. Our most severe cases are falling through the cracks and we are losing our children! Do you know that many times the only help they receive is from the school system after they have exhausted all of their resources? This results in a tremendous financial burden on the schools to place a child in an out of county or state residential program. We can do better than this! I urge you to support this project in all ways, not just a letter!
