Be pro-active and protect the watersheds. The watershed is fragile and further study should be completed to determine the cumulative effect of this grow would have along with the other grows and vineyards already existing and approved in the BV Watershed. The amount of county citizens long-term water supply should be a priority and protected - and - closely monitored.

The biggest take away from the EBA Engineering report is that the methods being used by the NorthPoint Consulting Group are inadequate to "estimate long-term well yield under the proposed project scenario" according to the three EBA experts that signed it. They go on to state that, "Where long-term groundwater supply comes into question, or where externalities to other potential beneficial uses of groundwater supply (our wells, etc.) are not well understood, a longer duration pumping test is generally recommended." Measurement of groundwater elevation levels prior to resuming construction or operation for the 4 wells drilled in April or June and comparing them to those reported at the time of drilling would also give us a better idea of the overdraft potential for this project. There are 3 new projects being considered by the City of Clearlake in this watershed area. More straws drawing from the same pool could leave residential users without water.
