7.3 21-1288 Consideration of Letter to the California Department of Water Resources in Opposition to the Sonoma County Water Agency's Grant Application Requesting Funding for Potter Valley Project Related Matters
Dear Board of Supervisors: I support your efforts to make Lake County's interests be represented in any action regarding the future of the Potter Valley Project, including Lake Pillsbury. The idea of removing a reservoir in the time of climate change is absurd. Having the future dictated by a Congressman from an outside district with no regard to the region's water needs makes no sense. Lake County's interest have not been considered, and must be.
Thank you for crafting this letter to the State. This application has been shaped to advance a goal to remove Scott Dam, eliminating Lake Pillsbury, following a carefully crafted and predetermined path that has been advocated by Congressman Huffman and a limited group of likeminded individuals and entities. His Ad Hoc Committee, that was looking for a "Two Basin Solution" was, by design, handpicked to suppress any voice contrary to what has been a predetermined end goal.
I support the concept of a regional entity to manage the future of the PVP. I support efforts to enhance fisheries and the environment. Lake County's participation in this entity is essential. The PVP, including Lake Pillsbury is an essential asset to the National Forest, regional water needs, and Lake County's aesthetic and economy. Lake County's voice should be provided great weight in crafting a regional solution in management of our resources.
I support the letter.
